Monty Stewart

Monty Stewart

Monty Stewart, 50, of Walnut Creek, Calif., passed away Jan. 6, 2016. He was born Nov. 21, 1965, in Fort Smith, Ark. Monty was a pastor and pastored at the Kona Church of the Nazarene until 2011 when he left to pastor at Christ Community Church of the Nazarene in Concord, Calif.

Friends are welcome at 1:30 p.m, Sunday, Jan. 10 for a 2 p.m. memorial service at Kona Coast Nazarene Church at 75-6100 Palani Road in Kailua-Kona.

He is survived by his wife, Janelle Stewart of Walnut Creek, Calif.; sons, Lawrence (Brandy) Stewart of Ft. Collins Colo., and Brennan of Newburg, Ore.; brother, Wayland (Terri) Stewart of Chantanooga, Tenn.; sister, Kaylene (Lowell) Churchill of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Douglas Chun

Douglas “Dougie” Kepua Chun, 62, of Holualoa died Dec. 11, 2015, at his residence. Born Nov. 12, 1953, in Honolulu, he was a drywall taper for Group Builders, a singer, musician, former band member of Merge and Harmony and member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local 1791.

Service information will be announced at a later date.

He is survived by daughters, Denise (Stephen) Avanilla, DarylAnn (Ryan Lauronal) Chun; son, Daniel (Samantha Saldua) Chun, all of Kailua-Kona, John Duran of Seattle; brother, Lionel (Lila) Chun of Honolulu; sister, Genesis Kauwe of Kailua-Kona; eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Diana Williamson

Diana Gorden Williamson 93, of Dallas died Dec. 23, 2015. Born May 17, 1922, she was employed with American Airlines, Agricultural Specialties and Thuron Industries, she volunteered for League of Women voters, Vail Mountain Medical Center, Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum and Hall of Fame and Daughters of the King.

A memorial service will be held in Bailey’s Prairie at a later date. Scattering of ashes will be held in Kona at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be posted at teddickeywestfuneral.com.

She is survived by daughters, Mary Williamson of Winter Park, Colo., Carolyn (John) Robinson of Garland, Texas, Jane (Edward) McBride of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Tsuyako Nozaki

Tsuyako “T” “Mrs. T” Nozaki, 89, of Keaau died Dec. 6, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born March 28, 1926, in Olaa, she was the retired owner and barber for the former Olaa Barbershop and member of Taishoji Soto Mission Kyodan and Fujinkai and Keaau Village Kumiai.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. Jan. 14 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Naokichi Nozaki of Keaau; sons, Mark Nozaki of Keaau, Scott (Nan) Nozaki of Hilo; daughters, Shan (Ric) Jeans of Portland, Ore., Michele (Peter) Bolger of Chicago; sisters, Yoshiko Shojinaga of Los Angeles, Miyoko Sasaki of Honolulu; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Thomas Dawson

Thomas “Tom” Dawson, 69, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 31, 2015, at his residence. Born Dec. 9, 1946, in Patterson, N.J., he was a retired air traffic control manager for Keahole Kona International Airport and Rochester International Airport, past fire chief for Volunteer Fire Company 7 Bravo and Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department, member of the American Legion Post 20 and an Army veteran.

Private service were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.

He is survived by wife, June Dawson of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Michelle (Jeff) Gulick of Castle Rock, Colo.; Cindy (Michael) Kane of Waikoloa; two granddaughters.
